The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Expansion Project comprises the expansion and modernisation of existing passenger terminal facilities, airfield infrastructure and systems, landside car parking and access roads. Appointed by the European Investment Bank, members of Logika provided environmental technical assistance.
This included undertaking an independent review of the Environmental Impact Assessment Project Report (EIAPR) and accompanying EIA licence previously prepared and granted for the Project.
The review was aimed at providing evidence to the EIB on the adequacy and compliance of the EIAPR and its licence against Kenyan environmental law and European Law as enacted in Kenya, as well as other relevant international standards.
The team also worked with the Kenyan Airport Authority (KAA) to establish an Environmental Management System including by providing training to individuals working within environmental field at the airport.
